    Stringed Instrument in MOTD Soundtrack

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 07:27 AM PST

In Mob of the Dead, there is a stringed instrument featured throughout. The timbre of this instrument became the recognizable theme of this map and is very distinct. Can anyone tell me if they are sure which instrument this is? I've heard mandolin, lyre, guitar, etc etc etc. I need to know.

To those who are fans of the Chaos story

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:48 PM PST

The chaos story does not get the attention it deserves so it though it's a good idea to bring some to it. My question is what are some theories on where the story could go from after ancient evil or theories in general about the story.

How to waste 5 hours: A short story on the Blood of the Dead Easter Egg

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 03:28 AM PST

Look I'm no stranger to zombies or Easter eggs and have done bo1-3 all multiple times. When 4 came out, I was very overwhelmed and didn't like many of the changes that were made, so I chose to not play anymore. (I also think it was still a 3 hit system) So anyway I've started playing a bit more (mostly IX) and being an EE buff I wanted to try a few. A few friends and I got together and they told me that Blood of the Dead was easily the hardest. So naturally we all tried it first. And two of my friends were rather knowledgeable about the map whereas I had only played it once or twice. (And never crossed the catwalk to the OG map area). So we find ourselves in a nice start, 3 of us are running a magmagat (or one acid) and packed rocket launcher, the latter of which I must say should be a war crime. Come round 17 we begin the 4 hour but seemingly nightmare that would end eventually in tears. We start off with the bird step. At this point, I am taking orders, holding zombies etc cause I have no use to the Easter egg. Also i will say now if not for the pause feature we would have lost much earlier. The following two rounds we find and shoot the bird, relatively simple. But then on round 20, we have to find the man instead. However, upon hearing the seagull again, we had thought there was a glitch. We heard the seagull all throughout the large spiral stairs (I forget the name). We were expecting to hear the man crying instead of the seagull, and we thought all our hard work was for naught. After ending a couple rounds, shooting known bird locations and scouring the area for almost an hour, we nearly gave up. Only after a friend in the party suggested we look in a specific area he had looked up did we find the man, and an absolute ridiculous location it was. Apparently he only appears every 10 secs or so, so it was understandable that we didn't find him on a beam above our heads in the OG uzi room by the numbers panel. We finally completed this, and one of my friends completed the zombie blood step easily. We were ready to start the trials. But sadly, it was already round 24. The first trial we were given was the Morse code, which after discovering the durations required, was accomplished by myself simply through brute force. We had completed a trial on (for all intents and purposes) my first ever game. This was farther than any of my friends had been either. But with 4 guides on our phones, a pause button, and a dream, we pushed onward. Four more trials to go. The next we were given was simon says, and we botched it hard. Though some misunderstandings, we failed this step pretty early on and had to wait a round. We were next given the protection mission, which we accomplished rather easily with dg4s and upgraded launchers. Two down, three to go.

Next up was the opposite of the last, kill the ghost. And fellas I must say I considered quitting here. We had maybe 10 or so shield charges between us. However we severely underestimated the difficulty of this trial, and we were punished. Following many downs, and many losses of perks (we don't exactly have good elixirs or talismans), we had drained our friend to the best of our ability, and I activated the trap, praying it was enough. Two of my friends, unaware I had done this, walked straight into it. While the ghost remained unscathed, two of us were knocked down. We thought it would end there, but luckily the 4th had fully upgraded Dg4s, which as I now know are absolute cheese. Another round, we charged our shields in hope for another attempt. We got the same challenge, but took a different approach. One of us (me) trained zombies while the other 3 threw everything they had. And to be honest it was actually quite easy: we had him fully drained before the water tower Golden spork area on the catwalk. One trap activated, one stone collected, two trials left to go.

Next we faced the showers, or banjo as someone called it. A relatively simple premise but we were nearing round 30, and things were getting difficult. Running out of ammo, going down more often and losing perks. We failed our first shower attempt as the one with the banjo fell. Another round ended and we tried again, with another grabbing the banjo. By some miracle, he returned the banjo to the ghost before dying, and we had but one more trial to face.

Learning from our past mistakes, we conquered the first part of this trial rather easily. We took note of the symbols (with use of a helpful cheat sheet of course) and continued on to the spawn area. We had one dedicated fellow training some zombies, but at this point, they just seemed to keep coming. Finding our new symbols we turned to the man with the lever. I had one man cover me while I helped our ghost pal become a lever turner. However he soon went down behind me. I brought him up, but he wasn't talking. He wasn't moving either. In perhaps our worst setback yet, we lost a player to a disconnection. All that work he had done, now gone. We had completed all 5 trials but, we lost one man. We wouldn't stop there.

Approaching 4 hours and well past 30, we had to keep moving on. We had the stones and put them on the map. We paid a visit to the warden and he put us in jail. After a longer cutscene than I would've liked, we are freed by our bird friend, and pickup our weapons and the 3 of us set out to face down the warden for good. Only there weren't 3 of us. There were only two. Having lost another to disconnection, the two of us were left to fight the warden alone. Fighting our way to spawn, grabbing and placing the stone on the map, and with more trouble than I'd like to admit, we found our way to the boss fight. It's us or him.

A long and arduous fight ensued, but thankfully one acid and magna gat coupled with the unholy power of the packed rocket launcher, this boss fight proved easier than originally thought. However, we missed a crucial part of the step here. After the warden comes and we shoot the orbs, we did not know to shield blast him or the orb on top of the middle machine. So after 3 times wondering why it didn't work, we realized we'd need to do it again. However the game, in its only demonstration of mercy up the this 5 hour game, gave us the next step after only two shield blasts. We had done it. Or so we thought.

While being the lucky guy I am, I, as Richtofen, got to experience my own personal cutscene as my Dempsey friend ran in circles around the machine. Finding my way back up as a new richtofen, we defeated the warden one last time, and the final cutscene played. We had done it. We finished the hardest zombies Easter egg on my first try. We lost some friends along the way, but in the end, all that suffering was worth it as we saw the achievement pop on our screen, it's immense gamerscore - oh it's only 30 yeah forget this game good bye why did I waste my time I'm going back to play good zombies.

The Black Ops 4 HUD, Who Else Likes it?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 02:37 PM PST

So I've always watched this sub-reddit from afar and I've decided to finally make an account and post something and this is something I've been wanting to ask: Who else actually likes the B04 Hud. Now I already know most of you hate, I'm just curious who does. I love the HUD because I like having all the information on screen. Now I understand those who hate it, most people don't like their screen cluttered and that's understandable, I'm just wondering who DOES.

If I'm on Revelations and I get the Apothicon Servant, can I use Crate Power to upgrade it or do I have to shoot the blue rocks out of the sky?
