Posted: 17 Oct 2019 02:20 PM PDT Seeing how Tag Der Toten have been given some time now, I thought I could do a deep poll looking back at Treyarchs run with zombies to see where the community stands on multiple things. I spent some time making it so I would really appreciate it if you took 10-15 minutes out of your lives to answer the poll. The more people who answer, the better the results. I thought I could leave it for a week and then post all of the results for all to see. So again, would really appreciate it. Thank you :) [link] [comments]

Tag der Toten Easter egg is a triumph of cartoonish style and arcade mini games Posted: 17 Oct 2019 03:55 PM PDT I remember playing World at War's first zombie map, Nacht der Untoten with my friends as a teen. What was compelling about zombies then was the realism, from the very first intro cutscene, you were filled with a pervasive horror of the possibility of a zombie outbreak among the German ranks, and being a soldier trapped inside a bunker trying to fend off the undead. It was dark, gritty, claustrophobic—and, for the time, realistic—and that was enough. It didn't take long for Treyarch zombies to abandon its realistic beginnings to incorporate time travel, parallel dimensions, portals, rifts in the fabric of space-time, aliens, etc. But while the plot grew increasingly complex, a funny thing happened to the gameplay itself of zombies: it became more caricatured and cartoony. It began to feel less and less like a real struggle for survival, like in Nacht, where every knife kill was a panicked grasp at survival, and more like an arcade game, filled with mini games and tangential steps to complete. Its on this subject of blending the arcade style mini games with the larger purpose of zombies (survival against infinite, increasingly difficult enemies) that Treyarch made serious innovations in gaming. Maps can be judged on how well they blended these two elements, how well the side quests and Easter eggs 'flow' into the natural rhythms of an increasingly difficult zombies experience. As you move through waves, gather points, unlock doors, how naturally can you complete the steps of the Easter egg? On masterpiece zombies maps like Origins, the answer is: very naturally, you are moving seamlessly through all the steps of unlocking items and side missions while being challenged and entertained. On less impressive maps like Tranzit or Blood of the Dead, you'll find the set up process tedious, being forced to return to the same locations repeatedly, running around for minutes completing steps, or just getting bored. Tag der Toten has a very strong Easter egg with satisfying side quests, but more importantly it perfected the cartoonish and arcade-y elements of gameplay that Treyarch has flirted with since BO1. Far from the realistic outset of Nacht der Untoten, Tag buys fully into its cartoonish soul (e.g., killing zombies by throwing snowballs at them, the entire experience of using the golden pack-a-punch with the music, etc.), while maintaining a profound aesthetic harmony between everything it has going on. The gorgeous red and blue visuals of the fire and ice are stunning... but leave room for cartoonish yellow snowballs to be piled in every corner. The entire Victis crew are basically just walking memes (Stuhlinger's conversations with Richtofen are especially great). The use of dynamite and flingers to open up new ways of travel, getting frozen solid while standing in the water too long. Recovering the hermit's spleen and getting yellow snowballs. All of this contributes to a cartoonish feeling on this map that makes it truly innovative and great. In general this map does a very good job of rewarding you for your efforts. To complete this EE solo I was forced to unlock the Thunder gun by completing all 5 challenge totems, which is a pain, but most of these were easy enough to complete while I was going about the other steps of the Easter egg. It also provides a more efficient way of getting your zombie kills, and some of the totem rewards are useful (e.g., 10 snowball capacity). Heat pack is also very satisfying to unlock and use, as is the Golden pack-a-punch (just make sure you have 5,000 saved up before flipping the third power switch). If you play this map right and complete the steps efficiently, you can get a fully packed gun and multiple wonder weapons and 10-count yellow snowballs very quickly. Overall, I would say this map takes some of the best mini games from earlier maps, like the challenge banners from IX, or the mud from Origins that slows you down like the freezing water in Tag, and improved on them by integrating them with better rewards and options for bypassing the more tedious elements (e.g., the heat pack). Unlocking everything while progressing through the Easter egg and staying efficient was incredibly fun and includes dozens of mini games, some of which are more cartoony than other, but the developers make it work. This was the first Easter egg I've ever completed solo and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I got to watch the entire cutscene without crashing so that was a plus 👌 [link] [comments]
Unpopular opinion: bo4 zombies is really good Posted: 17 Oct 2019 02:25 PM PDT This might get some hate but I feel like bo4 zombies was really good and all of the maps are fun asf. Ik all of the aether maps are remakes, but tag and alpha omega feel brand new to me. That's jut my opinion but idk. And I enjoy all of the chaos maps too even tho they get hate from some ppl. I just think the zombies mode in this game is just really fun overall in general. And I hope they make a dlc 5 with victis. [link] [comments]
If our world was turned into a Zombie Apocalypse... What would be your go to Gun? Posted: 17 Oct 2019 07:45 AM PDT Of course any game counts from CoD 1 - MW (The new one) and I would also count wall mounted guns like the one from Verruct beneath the water fountain... in case you're into them! What do you guys think is the most fun zombies game? Posted: 17 Oct 2019 09:40 AM PDT Like purely for gameplay, cos personally I'd have to say IW it has fun maps that dared to try new things, an amazing super EE, you're able to play as David hasslehoff, the soundtrack was amazing. I will never understand why IW was so hated, it was so refreshing to have zombies that was about fun [link] [comments]
Still don’t understand the storyline Posted: 17 Oct 2019 04:30 PM PDT I've watched countless videos explaining the storyline, and I still get super confused about it. I have so many questions and don't get most of the stuff from bo2-bo4. Does anyone have a really good video that explains the entirety of the aether storyline? [link] [comments]
