In-Depth analysis of the communities' favourite maps: Results Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:48 AM PDT Hi everyone, Recently (and always) there's been an influx of polls voting on our favourite parts of zombies. Obviously this is a zombies subreddit, so what do we do other than discuss zombies. However, some of them are fairly low effort, and A) Are just a "vote for your fave" B) Don't have any further analysis I wanted to make a more high-effort, and hopefully definitive, way to determine the communities favourite maps and games in the Treyarch zombies-verse. To do this the other week I posted a poll, where instead of voting for a fave, you ranked every single zombies map in order. I have now collated these results and drawn as much analysis as I could from the results! Hopefully you all enjoy. ---- ​ Here's the raw results, where low number is best (i.e. if everyone ranked the same thing first, its score would be 1). Without further ado, our favourite maps are: Map Score Mob of the Dead 5.3 Der Eisendrache 5.9 Origins 6.3 Shadows of Evil 8.6 Der Riese/The Giant 8.9 Moon 9.2 Call of the Dead 10.7 Gorod Krovi 10.9 Ascension 11.2 Buried 11.3 Kino Der Toten 12,7 IX 13.2 Revelations 14.3 Zetsubou No Shima 15 Ancient Evil 15.1 Shangri-La 16.1 Classified 17 Verruckt 17.2 Five 17.4 Dead of the Night 18.8 Alpha Omega 18.9 Tag Der Toten 19.4 Shi No Numa 19.6 Nuketown Zombies 20.5 Nach Der Untoten 21.3 Die Rise 22.1 TranZit 22.1 Blood of the Dead 22.4 Voyage of Despair 23.7 Here's a more visual graph showing the scoring: https://preview.redd.it/nnkt02dl8b451.png?width=414&format=png&auto=webp&s=05186bd86d24f8b09db2f67bc99c3433ddee7846 But what can we find out from this? Below I've broken it down by game in the following ways: Average - What is the average score for each game, and therefore a ranking of our favourite games Max - What was this game's peak? Min - What was this game's lowest point? Range - How much did the quality of this game's maps vary? Low range = consistent game (and vice versa) Game Average Max Min Range WaW 16.8 21.3 8.9 12.4 BO1 12.9 17.4 9.2 8.2 BO2 14.6 22.1 5.3 16.8 BO3 10.6 15 5.9 9.1 BO4 18.6 23.7 13.2 10.5 In summary: BO3 is our favourite game, BO4 is our least. BO2 has the best single map (only just), and is also the least consistent game, with some of the worst. ---- ​ Some other interesting tidbits I've pulled out are as follows: Most average maps: The median of our dataset is 15, making the most medium maps Revelations, Zetsubou, and Ancient Evil Launch Maps: The best launch map was Shadows of Evil by far, and the worst was close between Voyage of Despair, Blood of the Dead, and Tranzit Consistency: BO3 and BO1 are the most consistent, and BO2 swings from 2 of the top 3 maps, to 2 of the bottom 4! DLC really seemed to save this game's zombies experience Gaps: The biggest gap in the data is from our top 3 (the holy trinity) of DE, Mob, and Origins, then jumping 2.3 places to SoE in 4th Best and worst of each game: Game Best Worst WaW Der Riese Nacht BO1 Moon Five BO2 Mob Tranzit BO3 DE ZNS BO4 IX VoD Tierlist: Some of the other posts I was referring to were personal-opinion tierlists that flood the subreddit in waves. If I had to tierlist the maps (as there are some neat groupings), it would be like this: S tier: Origins, DE, Mob A tier: Moon, SoE, Der Riese/The Giant B tier: CotD, Buried, Ascension, Gorod C+ tier: Kino, IX C tier: Revelations, ZNS, AE C- tier: Shang, Classified and Five (I love how these 2 are only .4 apart) D tier: DotN, AO, Tag, Shi no numa F tier: Nuketown, Nacht, Tranzit, Die Rise, BotD Voyage tier: Voyage of Despair (don't hate me, I don't mind the map, but its not looking good) And finally a timeline: Each map in order, against its score. https://preview.redd.it/ljpkfnao8b451.png?width=985&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4aa814083ffbe6395670aa549c9a80fa33e7f57 From this we can see the strongest runs as Der Riese - Moon, and Mob - Gorod. Our weakest runs were BO2 pre-mob, and early BO4 (saved from total sadness by IX and AE) I was happy with a sample size of about 40 votes, but more is always better!
