The Ultimate IW Easter Egg Guides: Attack of The Radioactive Thing (DLC 3 - Chemical Step Only)

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 08:04 AM PST

This is a repost of my original guide. Hope this helps :)

Note: This guide will only explain how to do the chemical step in the IW Zombies map, 'Attack of The Radioactive Thing'. Make sure you have opened up the garage and found all of the bomb parts, as well as the chemical set, before creating your chemical.

Step 1: Find your "O" number

Go to the motel and enter the office where you will found a couch with a tape recorder on it. Look at the top right of the room and you will see a "M" with a number above it. Remember this number. Then head over to Elvira's Radio Station and look at the TV screen to her right.

Shortcut Method (Only use this method if your "M" number is 5 or higher) - This method will use simple common sence to find your "O" number. On the TV screen will be a set of 3 possible numbers, each with a colour assigned to them. Using your "M" number, find the only number in the range of numbers shown by the TV screen that fits in the same times table as your "M" number. Then, divide this TV screen number by your M number to get your "O" number. Then, change the film number to the TV screen numbers corresponding colour.

    E.g. "M" = 20 & the TV screen shows the following...

    <179 (178, always 1 less) Red
    179-180 Green
    >180 (181, always 1 more) Blue

Using the TV screen, we can see a range of numbers from 178 to 181. The only 1 of these numbers that fits in the 20 times table (as M = 20) is 180. Therefore "O" = 9 (as 180/20 = 9). Furthermore, as the number '180' matches with Green I will change the film colour to green.

Long Method (Only use this method if your "M" number is 4 or less) - This method will take some time to complete but it can easily be made faster with multiple players assisting you. Complete the following steps...

    1) Change the film colour to Red.

    2) Go around the map and see if any of 4 locations showing 'O = a number' have a diagonal cross along the '=' sign. Any number that shows a cross over the '=' should be crossed off as a possible number for "O". Here are the locations to look at...

    a) Under the bridge at the beach

    b) On the wall above the couch as you enter the market through the spawn side

    c) On the bottom of a door to the right of the garage

    d) In a caravan at the RV park. The easiest way to look at this is to press the button at Pack A Punch and go through the teleporter, once you are in the caravan, look at the 'O = ?' on the fridge to see what the '?' is equal to.

    3) Complete step 2 for both the Green & Blue film colours as well until you have found a number in 1 of the 4 locations that does not show a cross over the '=' regardless of the film colour. This is your "O" number. Using this number, multiple it by your "M" number and find the corresponding colour on Elvira's TV screen. Change the film to this colour.

    E.g. "M" = 2, "O" = 8

    <16 (15, always 1 less) Red
    16 - 17 Green
    >17 (18, always 1 more) Blue

    M * 0 = 2 * 8 = 16 | The colour that matches with '16' is Green so the film colour will be changed to Green

Note: You MUST make note of, &/or memorise your "O" number, as this is needed for later. Once changing your film colour to the correct colour, do NOT change it until after you have created the correct chemical.

    Step 2: Find your chemical

This is fairly straightforward but will take a few steps...

    1) From Scene 7 & onwards there will be a possibly that a backpack zombie will drop a 'battery'. Keep meleeing zombies till you find a battery, it is much more likely that a battery will spawn if you melee a zombie, rather than just shooting it.

    2) Place the battery in 1 of 2 tape recorders (by pressing X);

    a) In the left corner of the power station, next to a valve & a bin

    b) In the motel office, on a couch

    3) Listen to the Dr speaking on the tape recorder. When he stops speaking, press X on the tape recorder again to hear more of it. Repeat this till the recorder stops you from interacting with it and it says 'Rewinding...'. If you want to listen to the recording again, go to the next round. If 1 of the recorders talks about 'chemical compounds' or 'to mix...blah, blah...' then stop listening to it and go to the other location. The recorder you need to listen to is 1 that talks about possible chemicals that could defeat the 'Radioactive Thing'.

    4) Once you have found the correct radio, you will want to listen out for the following 4 chemicals;

    a) 3-Methyl-2, 4-Di Nitrobenzen

    b) Octa-Hydro-2, 5-Nitro-3, 4,7-Para-Zocine

    c) 3,4-Di-Nitroxy-Methyl-Propane

    d) 1,3,5-Tetra-Nitra-Phenol

The chemical that the Dr refers to as 'the perfect solution', 'bang for your buck', or 'the best chance' will be the chemical you will need to make. The 3 chemicals the Dr refers to as 'leading chances', 'having a lack of supplies', 'most likely' or 'reaction timing is off' will NOT be your chemicals. Once you know your chemical, you are almost ready to make it!

Step 3: Take pictures/screenshots of the chemical boards

After finding your "O" number and your chemical you will need to either take pictures or screenshots (press your Xbox guide button then press Y) of chemical boards around the map before you make your chemical. These boards will each contain 6 items on them, along with a diamond shaped grid of 4 numbers to the right of them. Make sure that you are in the correct film colour (as found earlier in step 1) before you take your pictures/screenshots of the boards.

    Here are the locations for all 6 boards;

    1) At the centre of spawn

    2) On the beach, along the far left side of the sea, under the bridge

    3) To the far left, just before you enter the market through spawn side

    4) In the garage, next to the bomb

    5) At Elvira's radio station, next to bang bangs

    6) At the RV park, opposite mule munchies, leaning against a caravan

After taking the screenshots, you are ready to make your chemical!

    Step 4: Make your chemical

Here are all the possible chemicals you will need to make, along with each step for of their mixing process. For each stage of your mixing process, you will need to add the TOP & LEFT numbers of each ingredient together (using your pictures/screenshots of the 6 chemical boards and finding the corresponding numbers of each ingredient) and then take away your "O" number. You will need to input the final result into your chemical mixing machine in the garage, making sure that before you enter your final number, all of your chemicals have been placed on the mixing station. Continue this till you have created your final chemical.

Note: If you get a step wrong, you will be redscreened and your screen will turn blurry before Willard mocks you. You will have to repeat the step again till you have successfully mixed your ingredients

E.g. Motor Oil (5+2=7) + Wheel Cleaner (2+8=10) + Wheel Cleaner (5+6=11) - "O" (8) = 20 (Input 20 into chemical machine and press enter, making sure that before you enter '20', all of the 3 named chemicals have been placed on the mixing station)

    Chemical Mix #1 Mix #2 Mix #3 Mix #4
    3-Methyl-2, 4-Di Nitrobenzene Paint + Drain Opener + Detergent = Methylbenzene Methylbenzene + Vinegar + Detergent + Baking Soda = Dinitro Dinitro + Racing Fuel = 3-Methyl-2, 4-Di Nitrobenzene
    Octa-Hydro-2, 5-Nitro-3, 4,7-Para-Zocine Racing Fuel + Quarters = Formaldehyde Formaldehyde + Glass Cleaner = Hexamine Hexamine + Vinegar + Detergent + Plant Food = Octa-Hydro-2, 5-Nitro-3, 4,7-Para-Zocine
3,4-Di-Nitroxy-Methyl-Propane Racing Fuel + Quarters = Formaldehyde Vodka + Pennies = Acetaldehyde Formaldehyde + Acetaldehyde + Detergent = Aldehyde Sludge Aldehyde Sludge + Nail Polish Remover = 3,4-Di-Nitroxy-Methyl-Propane
1,3,5-Tetra-Nitra-Phenol Motor Oil + Wheel Cleaner + Insect Repellent = Phenol Phenol + Drain Opener = Phenol sulfonic Acid Phenol sulfonic Acid + Detergent = 1,3,5-Tetra-Nitra-Phenol

    The ingredients highlighted in 'bold' can be found around the map. Here are the locations of all the possible ingredients you will need to find;

Paint - Near the racing stripes perk machine, next to some grey cans

Drain Opener - At the RV park, inside the public restrooms

Detergent - In the market, directly opposite the vodka display

Vinegar - A dark brown bottle found on a table as you enter the market through the spawn side

Baking Soda - On the right side of the centre aisle of the market, look for a small box laying on its side

Racing Fuel - A light grey container to the right of the garage door, right next to where you found 1 of the 'O = a number' locations

Quarters - Near the garage, melee any of the payphones with a crowbar

Vodka - In the market, on a display

Pennies - Inside the market, melee any of the cashiers with a crowbar

Glass Cleaner - In the market, on the front of the centre aisle

Plant Food - To the left of the quickies perk machine

Nail Polish Remover - In the motel office, on the desk next to the couch

Motor Oil - Inside the garage, on the floor next to the bomb

Wheel Cleaner - A purple spray bottle on the left side of the centre aisle in the market

Insect Repellent - In the centre of spawn, directly opposite a chemical board

Once you've made your chemical, place it into the bomb. If you are unable to place the chemical into the bomb then you have made the wrong chemical, check the tape recorders again to find the correct chemical.

    General Tips & Tricks

    - Have some chewing gum or a stress ball with you, this chemical step can be stressful for new players

Number of players Number of people making chemical Number of people collecting ingredients Number of people keeping the last zombie
    2 1 2 (Both players) 1
    3 1 1 1
    4 1 2 1

    - Remove blue bolts &/or trail blasers if necessary to avoid accidents

    - Save the chemical step for the very end

    - Double check, using the tape recorders, to see if you have the correct chemical, you do NOT want to have to cycle through all 4 chemicals to get the right 1

    The God Document

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1txNM3rIkCh7mDqp0DPfIYAaux3qQPchQBs8MwwsaP1o/edit?usp=drivesdk

This document was supplied to me by @thegamingrevolutionair on Twitch but shown in video form by Plasmid Jeff, check out his video to learn how to use it for the chemical step as it will mean you can skip many steps and you will only need to know your 'O' number and the matching numbers on one board of the correct colour

    https://youtu.be/gzBLFsow1lU

Note: This document does contain many mathematical errors so use this once you have found the letter assigned to your boards from the document (E.g. Column E) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EV07xEzhhMQrjM7kog6fvpqF9K0NTZMmumTi1mYQUkE/edit?usp=drivesdk

I'm confused, how do I use the document?

I will make this as simple as possible as to avoid any confusion.

    1) Find your 'O' number and change the film to the correct corresponding colour (as I've shown how to do above)

    2) With your film on the correct colour, go to any board in the map (preferably the one next to the studio since it makes the step faster). Then add up the TOP and LEFT numbers of the first 3 chemicals on the board and either memorize all the totals or write them down. Now using "The God Document" go to the 'Boards' section and using your calculated numbers, match up with the ones on the document to find your specific column (E.g. Column E).

    3) Now go the section labelled with your column (E.g. E) on "The God Document" and after you have found out via the radios (or via completely guessing the chemical - if you're doing a speed run 😂 ) the chemical you need to make check the numbers labelled 'Sum' that match up with your chemical (E.g. for the E column, 'Motor Oil, Wheel Cleaner & Detergent' are shown to add up to 43, so take that number and minus your 'O' number to find the input).

    4) Use these numbers (minus your 'O number') to figure out which numbers to input for your chemical :)

There we go! You have completed the horrific chemical step! Congratulations! If you need further help, contact me through either my Mixer, twitter, email, Xbox 1 OR simply leave a question in the comments section. Thanks :)

I've been creating straight to the point guides and would love some feedback.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 10:51 AM PST

I read the rules for the sub and I'm unsure if this breaks the promotion guideline. If it does please remove the post.

Hello everyone! I've recently started making straight to the point and easy to follow guides for all of the easter eggs. They cover every single part location, how to build wonder weapons, steps for the quest, etc. in a detailed but quick format. I plan to make these guides for every single map (Treyarch and non-Treyarch) and would love to get some feedback on how I can improve these for the future. I'm not looking for subs, I just want to know if these guides are helpful and how I could improve quality.
